When using a joint coupling or cable connector, the outer insulation and metal braid needs to be stripped away for a distance of approximately 5 cm. This is done to expose the inner insulation containing the copper core and removing the possibility of the metal braid comming in to contact with the conducting core. The cable should then be connected in the same way as other cables.
